Floyd Mayweather Sr. bashes Manny Pacquiao yet again – Boxing News
Floyd Mayweather Sr., father of the current WBC welterweight titlist Floyd Mayweather, has asserted that a match between his son and former WBO welterweight titlist Manny Pacquiao would be a mismatch. Mayweather Sr. was being interviewed by FightHype regarding
the possibility of a super-fight between Pacquiao and Mayweather. Mayweather Sr. came up saying that he still has not changed his mind when it comes to Pacquiao vs. Mayweather.
Time and again, Mayweather Sr. claimed that Pacquiao is no match for his son, and he is still on his grounds.
“I won’t ever change my mind on that. That’s a mismatch,” said Mayweather Sr. “Anybody that watched my son fight against Marquez and Pacquiao’s three fights with Marquez, if they know anything about boxing, they know that’s a mismatch.”
“He didn’t beat my son not one second of any round, but he’s about to go in his 48th round with Pacquiao, and honestly, the only thing that’s a shame about these two fighting for the fourth time is Marquez ain’t got the nod not one d**n time,” he added while
comparing Pacquiao’s fights against Marquez with that of Mayweather.
Pacquiao has defeated Marquez twice, once via majority decision and once via unanimous decision. However, all of his three matches against Marquez were close. On the other hand, Mayweather defeated Marquez neatly to score an edge over Pacquiao.
While Mayweather Sr. believes comparison between fights can do any good, numbers tell us that even Pacquiao has had his hands over Mayweather quite a lot of times. For instance, Pacquiao knocked out Briton fighter Ricky Hatton in the second round while Mayweather
had to exchange blows with him until the tenth round.
Similarly, Pacquiao defeated Puerto Rican fighter Miguel Cotto via technical knockout, while Mayweather defeated him via unanimous decision. Both fighters are more or less the same when it comes to their achievements and fighting skills, which is the main
reason as to why fans want them to clash more than anything else.
However, considering the response from Mayweather’s team to date, one can assume that the super fight will never happen.
