Floyd Mayweather accused of assault
Floyd Mayweather Jr. may not be interested in professional fighting these days, but he does sure like to fight the law.
Boxingscene.com and others have reported that “Pretty Boy Floyd” has compounded legal troubles with new accusations of assault coming from former Mayweather acquaintance Quincey Williams.
According to a report in the Las Vegas Review Journal, who obtained a police report of the incident, Mayweather was accused of assault Monday for trying to force Williams’ vehicle off the road.
Williams stated that he was driving near Spring Mountain Road in Las Vegas Monday when Mayweather, in a white Bentley, made an abrupt U-turn and “tried to run him off the road.”
The two parties are not unfamiliar in legal proceedings. In August 2009 a shooting incident at a skating rink resulted in Mayweather’s friend Ocie Harris being indicted on two felonies, attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon.
Williams testified to authorities following the incident that Mayweather had threatened his life over a text message. The message voiced a desire on the part of Williams to see Mayweather, who had an upcoming bout with Juan Manuel Marquez at the time, lose
in the fight.
Upon leaving the skating rink, Harris, Mayweather’s bodyguard, opened fire on Williams’ BMW and hit the car no less than six times.
Williams indicated Mayweather had commanded the actions, and said since then he has lived in constant paranoia and fear.
"He (Mayweather) feels like he's entitled to do whatever he wants and get away with it. He wants to walk around and intimidate people like he's some type of thug," Williams said.
Following boxing sensation Manny Pacquiao’s recent domination of Antonio Margarito, boxing fans have once again turned to the distant possibility of a mega-fight between “Pacman” and Mayweather.
The possibility of the fight is already jeopardized by ongoing legal affairs for Mayweather. He was accused in September of battery and grand larceny by former girlfriend Josie Harris.
