Floyd Mayweather and 50 Cents in business union – Boxing News
The current WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather has entered a business union with close friend and rapper 50 Cents, as reported by Leonard Ellerbe, CEO of Mayweather Promotions.
Ellerbe confirmed the news by saying, “I think that Floyd and 50 coming together is great for boxing. You have two smart guys and when great minds work together, you can have nothing but great results.”
He added that he was excited to know Floyd is working with his close friend and renowned rapper 50 Cents.
Speculations of 50 Cents working with Floyd Mayweather emerged when the rapper was found in a Twitter quarrel with Oscar De La Hoya, CEO of Golden Boy Promotions, who has promoted Floyd Mayweather in his last six fights.
A tweet by 50 Cents read, “I don't gamble, Floyd do, but I bet you [that] you won't be promoting Floyd Mayweather no more. TMT PROMOTIONS.”
The tweet immediately gave the impression that 50 Cents is somewhere involved with Mayweather and his promotions.
Now, it has been revealed that the rapper has received his promoter’s license in New York for TMT Promotions (The Money Team Promotions) and he is also applying for a license in Nevada.
Since Floyd Mayweather is in jail right now, no confirmation can be made as to what he plans on doing. According to Ellerbe, he has not spoken to Mayweather since the day the unbeaten American headed to Jail.
He added, “Me and (Mayweather adviser) Al (Haymon) have been here trying to facilitate his daily needs and our concerns have been about his health and welfare and trying to see him out of this horrible situation as soon as possible.”
Ellerbe is confident that whatever Floyd will do will be the best for him. According to him, Floyd is a genius when it comes to marketing himself, as he has done it throughout his career. He added that Floyd is on the right path to achieve his goal of becoming
a billionaire.
Ellerbe added that he is a firm believer in Floyd’s capabilities and he will support him in every decision the unbeaten American will make.
