Floyd Mayweather asserts he is better than Pacquiao – Boxing News
The more fans want Mayweather to fight Pacquiao, the more things are going on the other side. Floyd Mayweather is an unbeaten fighter who currently holds the WBC welterweight title, whereas Manny Pacquiao holds the WBO welterweight title. Both men have are
boxing icons for their respective countries and fans want to see them fight. In his recent interview to NBC’s Bob Costas, Floyd Mayweather spoke his heart out regarding the super-fight between him and Pacquiao.
When asked whether there is any possibility of him going head to head with Pacquiao, the American boxing star answered, “I am in the game to win, not just inside the ring, but outside the ring. My health is more important than anything.”
Costas got a bit tricky with his words when he asked Mayweather if he feared Pacquiao. Floyd replied, “I don’t fear no one. If your insinuating that I’m a scared fighter, why would you want to watch a scared fighter?”
The next question that was thrown on Mayweather was about who is the better fighter between him and Pacquiao. Mayweather aggressively replied, “I come first. Self preservation. I gotta worry about my family. If the fight don’t happen, so be it.”
Mayweather was then asked about the 50/50 split and why he cannot give it up. Mayweather replied, “I’m not giving up the split. I can’t afford to.”
This interview revealed a lot from Mayweather’s side. Most fans are still waiting for Manny vs. Mayweather, but after whatever Mayweather has revealed, it seems like chances of both these fighters getting in the ring together are rare.
In the recent past, Mayweather has been targeting Pacquiao a bit too much. However, in his recent press conference, Mayweather chose silence over aggression and did not utter a single word against Manny. However, since his upcoming fight against Miguel Cotto
happened as a result of not being able to convince Pacquiao, Mayweather is doomed to listen to questions regarding Pacquiao from reporters and fans. He already sounds volatile whenever Manny’s name is mentioned. Now, it seems like he is more interested in
giving interviews pertaining to his fight with Miguel Cotto instead of talking about Pacquiao.
