Floyd Mayweather believes Manny Pacquiao desperately needs to fight him – Boxing News
Pounds for pound king Floyd Mayweather jr. spoke about his current career status and if he needs to fight Floyd Mayweather jr. or not. According to Mayweather, he has proved it all throughout his career and it is Manny who needs to fight him to prove a point.
While speaking his heart out HBO TV in a program ‘Floyd Mayweather: Speaking Out’, Mayweather iterated, “Either you take it or you leave it. Like I've said before, Manny Pacquiao needs Floyd Mayweahter. Floyd Mayweather don't need Manny Pacquiao. I'm happy
with how my career has gone. I have nothing else to prove in this sport to nobody. Do I want the Manny Pacquiao fight before my career is over? Absolutely. But if it don't happen, it don't happen. People want to know how much power Floyd Mayweather's got?
....If I could fight Manny Pacquiao, I would let [US President] Obama walk me into the ring carrying my belt. Can I make it happen? Absolutely.”
Not only Pacquiao, Mayweather also spoke about the recent controversy that had sprung up after he made racism comments on NBA player Jeremy Lin. According to Mayweather, he spoke his mind out and that he did not blame or degrade Lin for anything. He added
that all he meant was that Lin’s hype is just because of his Asian background. Floyd also revealed that after he made those comments against Lin, a lot of NBA players called him up or came to him thanking him for whatever he said. He added that a lot of NBA
players told him that they were wanting to say this for very long times but they had to be quiet.
Floyd Mayweather was in direct contact with Manny Pacquiao earlier this year to talk about their highly anticipated mega-bout. However, things between both the fighters became messy when Floyd offered Manny a flat $40 million while he wanted to keep all
the pay-per-view proceedings. Manny, in an interview, said that he felt degraded when Mayweather came up with that offer. According to Manny, he deserves an equal share since he is as popular as Mayweather.
