Floyd Mayweather confident ahead of his fight with Victor Ortiz – Boxing news
The Pretty Boy, Floyd Mayweather, is very confident ahead of his highly anticipated fight with the current World Boxing Council World Welterweight Champion, Victor Ortiz, which will take place on September 17, 2011 at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Mayweather, who is a five-division world champion and the current World Boxing Council Emeritus World Super Welterweight Champion, is going to fight the Vicious, Ortiz, after a gap of almost 16 months. Therefore, a lot of people think the undefeated American
legend, Mayweather, could get in trouble.
However Mayweather, who holds a record of winning all of his 41 professional fights, in which 25 of his wins came by the way of a knockout, claims he is in a very good shape. The 34-year-old boxer told the media he always maintains his weight so there is
nothing he is worried about.
“I haven't shown any rust thus far throughout this training camp,” Mayweather told Blokely. “I'm disciplined and I maintain my weight outside of the ring so time away isn't a problem.”
Ortiz, like others, also accused Mayweather of wasting his money ahead of his fight.
Mayweather responded to Ortiz by saying he was doing it only to promote his fight. He said, “I don't over indulge or pig out and I play a lot of basketball during my off time. Plus it takes six months to build a fight of this magnitude with regards to making
a pay-per-view blockbuster so I can only fight two times a year anyway.”
Victor Ortiz now holds a record of winning 29 of his 33 professional fights (2 Draws), in which 22 of his wins came by the way of a knockout. He is also 10 years younger to Mayweather so it is fair to say it will be a tough night for Mayweather.
Let’s see how the bout between the two pugilists turns out to be later this month.
