Floyd Mayweather reckons his fight against Victor Ortiz would be the biggest boxing event of 2011
The Pretty Boy, Floyd Mayweather, reckons that his fight against the World Boxing Council’s Welterweight Champion Victor Ortiz is going to be “the biggest international boxing event of 2011.”
The undefeated five-division world champion Mayweather, who recently announced his comeback after almost a year for a match against Victor Ortiz on September 17, 2011, wants to give the best to his fans.
The 34-year-old American boxer Mayweather said at the moment, he is looking for the young challengers who want to make their mark in the boxing world.
While speaking on his inclusion, he said, “At this stage of my career, these are the challenges I look for - a young, strong, rising star looking to make his mark in boxing by beating me. I am ready to give my fans a fantastic night of boxing by fighting
the best out there.”
Mayweather, who has won all of his 41 fights with 25 by way of knockout, also commented on the world’s number one rated pound-for-pound fighter, Manny Pacquiao. He said he knows it has been long since people are waiting for a Mayweather-Pacquiao clash but
he wants to fight someone who is 100 percent clean.
“I really feel bad for the fans that have been waiting for me and Pacquiao to fight for so long. It's just, if I fight a fighter, I want to make sure that he is 100% pure and natural. I'm not saying Pacquiao is cheating, that goes for any fighter,” Mayweather
remarked.
The number two best pound-for-pound boxer in the world as per the Ring Magazine, Mayweather, stated that the only reason he has not fought the Fighting Pride of Philippines, Manny Pacquiao, is that he did not agree with him to take the random urine and blood
tests.
Mayweather and Ortiz both have not decided the venue of their bout yet. However, September 17, 2011, the official date from Mayweather, is confirmed.
