Floyd Mayweather responds to Amir Khan’s accusations of avoiding him – Boxing news
The five-division world champion and the World Boxing Council’s Emeritus World Super Welterweight Champion, Floyd Mayweather, has responded to the current unified International Boxing Federation and World Boxing Association World Light Welterweight Champion,
Amir Khan, who accused the undefeated American legend of avoiding him.
The 24-year-old Bolton’s finest pugilist, who is widely known as King Khan, recently said Mayweather is avoiding him because he knows his unbeaten record will get broken. Khan also mentioned Manny Pacquiao’s name who is trying to set up a match with Mayweather
since long.
“In my opinion, Mayweather is a chicken. He is doing everything to avoid me just as he did everything to avoid fighting Manny Pacquiao,” Khan recently told the Sun. “I don't want to sound cocky or arrogant but I believe the real reason for Mayweather
avoiding me is that he knows I have his number. Mayweather knows if he ever fights me his 0 will go.”
However the 34-year-old Mayweather, who holds a record of winning all of his 41 professional fights, with 25 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout, has responded to the Brit by saying he is not avoiding anyone.
“I'm not ducking or dodging anybody,” Mayweather said. “I'm in a no-win situation. The only thing I can do is go out there and keep winning, keep proving myself over again.”
Floyd Mayweather will take on the current World Boxing World Welterweight Champion, Victor ‘the Vicious’ Ortiz on September 17, 2011 in a heavily anticipated bout for the WBC title at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Mayweather, who is considered as one of the most difficult boxers to hit, has never been defeated for the past 15 years. He is making a comeback to the ring after 16 months. Therefore, many think Mayweather will get his unbeaten streak broken. Let’s see
if Mayweather once again proves himself as one of the best boxers on the planet.
