Floyd Mayweather says Victor Ortiz is no longer relevant to him – Boxing news
The five-division world champion and the current World Boxing Association World Welterweight Champion, Floyd Mayweather, recently in his exclusive interview with DJ Whoo Kid, has revealed that Victor Ortiz is no more relevant to him.
The Vicious Victor Ortiz and the undefeated American legend, Mayweather, met each other in a much-anticipated fight on September 17, 2011 at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. It was a great fight but unfortunately, it was cut short after Mayweather
secured a controversial knockout over the 24-year-old Garden City warrior.
Ortiz since then is desperate for a rematch, as he wants to avenge his defeat. However, the Pretty Boy believes Ortiz has had his chance.
Mayweather stated he provided Ortiz with a big payday and after what he did to him in the ring, he is no more relevant to him.
“This dude is trying is trying to stay relevant. He's no longer relevant. I made the dude famous on 24/7 and gave a few million. I got him on 24/7, he keeps nagging and bitching,” Mayweather told DJ Whoo Kid on radioplanet.tv.
Ortiz head-butted Mayweather in the earlier stages of the fourth round for which he was also docked a point by the officiating referee, Joe Cortez. However, when the fight was reset, Ortiz went on to hug his opponent as an apology but Mayweather responded
him with a dazzling left-right combination which forced Ortiz to crash down to the canvas.
Mayweather commented on his fight and remarked Ortiz should have not let his gloves down, as the American superstar believes people want them to see fighting not apologising to each other.
He said, “I'm like 'fall back' dude. We touched gloves before the fight, we don't need to touch gloves during the fight and all this kissing and hugging and unnecessary stuff. We don't need all that, the people want to see us fight.”
Mayweather recently said he will give Ortiz a rematch if Ortiz beats Andre Berto. Therefore, let’s see if Ortiz sets up a fight with Berto and beats him to come close to Mayweather once again.
