Floyd Mayweather says he doesn’t need Amir Khan or Manny Pacquiao; wants to fight Klitschkos
The five-division world champion and the current World Boxing Council World Welterweight Champion, Floyd Mayweather, has joked that he is planning to move up to the heavyweight division to fight Wladimir Klitschko or Vitali Klitschko.
The statement came after pressure has been building up for Mayweather to take on either Amir Kahn or Manny Pacquiao The eight-division world champion and the current World Boxing Organisation Welterweight World Champion (Super Champion), Manny Pacquiao,
and the currently unified World Boxing Association Super and International Boxing Federation Light Welterweight Champion, Amir Khan, are keen to have a super fight with Mayweather. However, the undefeated American legend has taunted his rivals by saying he
would prefer moving up to the heavyweight division to fight the Klitschko brothers before he beats them in his own weight class.
The 34-year-old Mayweather said, “I'm tired of beating up these guys. I'm thinking of moving up to the heavyweights and fighting the Klitschko brothers.”
Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather, who holds an incredible record of winning all of his 42 professional fights, with 26 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout, recently knocked out Vicious Victor Ortiz on September 17, at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas. However,
it seems as if now the American superstar is running out of credible opponents and cannot keep refusing to face Pacquiao and Khan.
Mayweather was formerly rated as the “Number One” pound-for-pound best boxer in the world before he was removed from the ranking due to his inactivity. Currently Manny ‘Pac-Man’ Pacquiao has taken over the number one spot. Therefore Mayweather versus Pacquiao
is one of the most eagerly awaited bouts in the sport as it will decide the best pound-for-pound fighter on the planet. Mayweather refuses to take on Pacquiao unless he goes through Olympic-style drug testing.
Khan on the same note wants a Mayweather clash as well but he has also been turned down as Mayweather wants him to fight Jessie Vargas first.
Mayweather’s bout with Wladimir or Vitali Klitschko is obvious at an attempt at humour because of their weight differences. Mayweather is side stepping offers but fans are waiting to see if he changes his mind and gets close to Pacquiao or Khan.
