Floyd Mayweather says he will fight Amir Khan if he beats Jessie Vargas – Boxing news
The five-division world champion and the current World Boxing Council Emeritus World Super Welterweight Champion, Floyd Mayweather, has claimed he will fight the current unified International Boxing Federation and World Boxing Association World Light Welterweight
Champion, Amir Khan, provided the Brit first proves himself by taking on his fighter Jessie Vargas.
The La Nueva Generacion, Vargas, who holds a records of winning all of his 16 professional fights in which 9 of his wins came by the way of a knockout, works for Floyd Mayweather’s boxing company, Mayweather Promotions. Therefore, Mayweather wants Khan to
take on Vargas, as the undefeated American legend wants the Brit to prove himself eligible for the challenge.
“We want Amir Khan to fight the future of boxing, which is my fighter Jessie Vargas,” Mayweather told Blokely. “If Khan gets past Jessie Vargas, then Khan has a fight with Floyd Mayweather.”
The Bolton’s finest pugilist who is widely known as King Khan recently knocked out the Super, Zab Judah, in the fifth round.
Mayweather also commented on Khan’s fight with Judah. Mayweather said Khan did not impress him at all.
“You've got to earn a fight with Mayweather. He just fought a Zab Judah that I fought six years ago, I fought a young, strong, hungry Zab Judah and he thought a Zab Judah that's a lot older,” Mayweather
added.
In the end, Mayweather, who holds a record of winning all of his 41 professional fights, with 25 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout, remarked if Khan wants a fight with him, he will have to earn it first.
Mayweather stated, “So once he fights Vargas then Amir Khan has a fight with Floyd Mayweather.”
Amir Khan currently has one more fight in December 2011 before he moves on to the 147 lbs division to meet the likes of Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao. Let’s see how Khan responds to Mayweather on this.
