Floyd Mayweather says he will fight Manny Pacquiao if he takes the drug test – Boxing news
The five-division world champion and the current World Boxing Council World Welterweight Champion, Floyd Mayweather, has revealed he is ready for a super-fight with the eight-division world champion and the current World Boxing Organisation Welterweight
World Champion (Super Champion), Manny Pacquiao, provided the Filipino star agrees to take the drug test.
The 34-year-old Mayweather also claimed he fights for the people and shows them what they want to see. Mayweather said he has always beaten his opponents at their peak whereas Pacquiao only fights his leftover.
Speaking with radioplanet.tv, Mayweather said, “I am really not concerned with him [Pacquiao]. I do what I do; he does what he do. I beat fighters when they’re undefeated, when they’re at the top and he beats my leftovers. If you’re the best than take the
test. I don’t know who’s next. We only give people what they want to see.”
The undefeated American legend, Mayweather, who has won all of his 42 professional fights, with 26 of them coming by the way of a knockout, wants Pacquiao to do Olympic-style drug testing, which requires random blood testing until the last hour of the bout.
However, he was turned down by the Fighting Pride of Philippines, Pacquiao, as he thinks giving blood so close to the fight will affect his stamina for the match.
Mayweather on the other hand considers Pacquiao is avoiding him and if he wants to fight him, he will have to agree for the blood tests.
“Whether he wins or loses [against Juan Manuel Marquez], if he wants the fight we can fight. I’m trying to figure out why he doesn’t want to take the tests. If he really wanted to fight, it would have been happened,” said Mayweather.
Pacquiao is currently rate as the ‘number one’ pound-for-pound fighter in the world. However, this position was previously held by Mayweather before he was removed from the rankings due to inactivity. Therefore, a fight between these two will certainly be
a huge one, as it will decide who the best pound-for-pound fighter is.
