Floyd Mayweather unhappy over defamation lawsuit from Manny Pacquiao – Boxing news
Floyd ‘Pretty Boy’ Mayweather, who is a five-division world champion and the World Boxing Council Welterweight World Champion, is not happy for getting a defamation of character case filed against him by Manny Pacquiao, who is an eight-division world champion
and the current World Boxing Organisation World Welterweight Champion (Super Champion).
The undefeated American legend, Mayweather, who holds an incredible record of winning all of his 42 professional fights, including 26 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout, recently stated he is not happy upon getting a lawsuit from the Filipino star.
Mayweather was asked about his thoughts on Pacquiao’s trilogy fight with the Mexican Dinamita, Juan Manuel Marquez, which ended up in a controversial 12-round majority decision in favour of Pacquiao and Mayweather was unable to pass on any comments due to
the lawsuit.
Mayweather stated boxing is all about trash talk because it promotes the fight. Meanwhile, the American Superstar also mentioned the likes of Muhammad Ali.
Mayweather told Fighthype.com, “I can’t really say nothing about him because there’s been a defamation of character case filed against me. In the past, I was able to criticize my opponents and talk trash in a playful manner, but I guess, you know, with me
talking trash to Manny Pacquiao, I got a lawsuit. I mean, Ali’s done it and a lot of the other top fighters have done it. Fighters, we do it back and forth to each other.”
In the end, Mayweather insisted Pacquiao would still have to do Olympic-style blood testing if he wants to fight him.
“They know they’re going to have to take the random blood and the random urine test,” Mayweather added.
The 34-year-old Mayweather accused Pacquiao of using illegal substance ahead of his fights and therefore he wanted the Pac-Man to agree for Olympic-style blood testing in order to fight him. Pacquiao on the other hand refused as he believed giving blood
so close to the bout will affect his stamina.
Mayweather and Pacquiao are the biggest draws in the sport of boxing and a fight between them will definitely pull a large crowd into the arena.
