Floyd Mayweather’s appeal for house detention rejected – Boxing News
Just after 10 days of being in at the detention centre, Floyd Mayweather jr. filed an application to shift him to a better facility of detention, preferably his house where he can eat and drink well and exercise too. However, unfortunately the unbeaten American’s
request was rejected.
According to Justice Melissa Saragosa, “While the physical training areas and times provided to (Mayweather) may not be consistent with his prior regimen, he is indeed provided sufficient space and time for physical activity if he so chooses.”
While Mayweather argues that he is not getting enough space to exercise and not good enough food to keep up with his health, justice Melissa believes otherwise. She wrote in her conclusion that Mayweather gets ample time to exercise and good enough food
and water to drink. According to her, the only reason why the pugilist is losing on his health is because he is choosing not to eat, drink and work out.
On the other hand, Prosecutor Lisa Luzaich remarked, “It's jail. Where did he think he was going? The Four Seasons?”
Dr. Robert Voy, Mayweather’s personal physician, believes the pugilist needs exercise in order to stay away from depression and anger management issues. He added, “I am concerned about Floyd withdrawing, developing anger he cannot dissipate through the usual
means of dedicated exercise and training. Boxing has been Mr. Mayweather's life since he was a young man and we need champions of this type to continue to their natural retirement and hopefully their contributions to society thereafter.”
For now, it seems like Mayweather has to spend the remaining days at the detention centre. His term is of ninety days. Although his legal team tried to get his relieved, the judge believes this is what Mayweather will have to cope up with.
As per the speculations, Floyd Mayweather jr. will fight British former WBA and IBF champion Amir Khan this fall or early next year. Golden Boy Promotions’ CEO Richard Schaefer has promised Amir Khan a match with Mayweather, only if he is able to beat Danny
Garcia on July 14.
According to Mayweather’s team, the pugilist needs to put up with his diet and exercise regime in order to stay in shape.
