Floyd Mayweather’s trainer talks Manny Pacquiao
Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s trainer, Roger Mayweather Sr., gone off on top pound-for-pound fighter Manny Pacquiao, blaming him for the fact a fight hasn’t been booked between Mayweather Jr. and Pacquiao. Mayweather
said today he believes Manny Pacquiao’s reluctance to take necessary drug tests have ultimately deterred what promises to be one of the highest grossing fights in the history of boxing.
“He [Manny Pacquiao] don’t want to take that [expletive] drug test,” Mayweather said to FightHype.  “That’s the only reason Floyd and Pacquiao ain’t fought, because they [Pacquiao’s camp] don’t want to
take the test.  Anytime a [expletive] gettin’ $100 million and he don’t want to take the test, then what does that tell you?  That’s simple arithmetic... you gotta take a [urine]test on call when you are getting a regular job, and when you are fighting, you
are risking your life, so you gotta take one then,” Mayweather said.
Mayweather seemed to shrug off or flatly reject reports made by a number of credible sources that Pacquiao agreed to the drug clause enforced by “Pretty Boy Floyd” in the last few months. Originally Pacquiao’s
camp rejected the clause because they felt it was an insult levelled towards Pacquiao.
In his last bout with “Sugar” Shane Mosley, Mayweather likewise enforced a strict Olympic style drug-testing policy, which including random urine and blood tests.  The fight was the first in the United
States to abide by the conditions.
On Pacquiao in general, Mayweather said that Pacquiao was stacking the deck against his opponents by fighting at catchweights, rather than regular divisional limits, citing the Filipino fighter’s upcoming
fight against Antonio Margarito.
“Let me tell you something, Pacquiao is fighting [expletives] at catchweights.  Floyd is fighting [expletives] at their regular weight.  Every fight [Pacquiao’s] fought, he’s made [his opponents] come
down.  Margarito probably weights 170 pounds now.  By the time that [expletive] fight, he gonna be about 147 and he’s gonna be dead making that weight.  Freddie Roach trained Oscar to fight my nephew and saw how much trouble he had making 154 for that fight,
so he knew if Pacquiao could get him [Margarito] to agree to a fight at 147 he’d be a dead man.”
The official catchweight for Pacquiao and Margarito is 151lb.  They will be fighting for the 154lb vacant WBC title.  The Mayweather camp has routinely criticized Pacquiao for fighting at catchweights,
since in those occasions he is often coming up slightly in weight, and his opponents are forced to drain themselves from their natural weight to make contractual terms.
At the same time, Pacquiao advocates have argued that Pacquiao too loses speed in moving up in weight classes, negating any advantage he may have by allegedly ‘draining’ opponents.
