Question:

Floyd mayweather Pound for Pound king? I think not!?

Everyone claims floyd mayweather is the king, but he hasent had one legit 147 lb defense since hes claimed the welterweight title.

Opponents have been either has beens or fighters moving up in weight. I mean this de la hoya rematch is a f*cking joke, its obviously just for the money.

With all the hype from the first one just to be let down by 12 rounds of shadow boxing with no one taking any risks.

I mean it was understandable from Oscar he an old man,

but floyd? come on hes the p4p king supposedly. That was no performance from a true champion.

None the less by next year i see the true welter weight champion rising up Miguel Cotto.

He is fighting everyone in the divison that floyd avoids(moley), showed impressive skill vs judah and is relentless.

Also he already has beat the current wbo champion quintana and will fight two more top conteders in the division by the end of this year. Let the true champ rise

  1. Floyd is the best of this generation, but he has had alot of advantages that most don't get.

He was trained by ex world champions from a very young age most boxers don't get that til they are pros's.

Also he is the money man so he dictates what weight to fight he destroyed hatton at a weight that hatton was **** at but everyone made money & mayweather added to his legacy.

With those odds he can't fail + give him credit he can box

  2. if you knew about boxing you would know that no fighter that moves up alot in weight remains with the same punching power. look at roy jones one of the all time bests in boxing when he moved up in weight to heavyweight. he was hitting and moving if not ruiz would have hurt him. no different from mayweather who started his career at 130.go through history and see what happens to fighters when they go up in weight alot, ull see they get knocked out eventually cuz that other person sooner or later will be more natural to that weight than the one coming up. mayweather is the best pound for pound period. he makes all other fighters look slow. a gold glove winner de la hoya couldnt cach up to mayweather. as for all these "supposedly" better fighters like williams and margarito please margarito lost to williams and williams lost to quintana and mayweather is FAR better than quintana so i think he doesnt even have to give those guys a chance to fight him. she should only fight cotto. this coming from a mayweather hater as i root for every opponent mayweather has had but  facts are facts and you have to give credit where credit is due.

  3. He hasn't really fought or beat any1 big, an old De La Hoya just like when Oscar beat Chavez. but Floyd doesn't want to fight Cotto Y? does he think cotto Will beat him. Leonard didn't want to fight Pryor for a reason because he knew Pryor would whoop his ***. Same with Floyd he knows that Cotto stands a good chance of beating him.

  4. He is the king and i dont like it either but get your facts straight. Oscar an old man i think not.Look at B-hop hes got a good 6-7 years on oscar and still looks great. Why is mayweathers fights with oscar a joke? Or why would the rematch be a joke? He won a SPLIT decison over oscar. People need to get off cotto's nuts really. I like cotto a lot too but he hasnt beat anyone yet but judah and mosely and barely beat mosely. Quintana is only a name now cause he beat Paul Williams. Basicaly in the position Floyd is at right now like or not he can do whatever the h**l he wants... I personaly would like to see him after the de la hoya rematch if it happens fight mosely/margirito and of course cotto then that should shut all critics up. I dont think he can get past all of them but people really need to stop hating on mayweather and get off some of these new up and comers nuts. Just because someones undeafeted its not saying a lot , people are in love with cotto and calazaghe both because they havent had a loss. I give cotto more credit than calzaghe because he fights everyone. Paul williams and Jaun Diaz were undefeated too until pretty recently , everyone of these guys will eventualy have a loss on their record unless they retire too early.

  5. Oscar wanted the rematch not Mayweather. Glad it doesn't matter what you think in this case. Mayweather is p4p best, if he lose or not. Tyson, Ali and the rest of those guy's are still hall of famers. Your lost doesn't prove that, its your mark on history. Willaims was undeafeted until he lost. Now no one even here about him anymore. Mosley no him, Judah no him but the other guy's Cotto faced you cant say the same. Quinanta on down----who did they fight? Corley,  just lost to a guy with a record of 14-0. Corley lost 11rounds that fight. They say Mayweather is not fighting top guy's. The guy's he faced, were going to destroy him and put a L in his record. When they lose, the guy becomes a nobody or the excuses starts to flow like Niagara Falls. Cotto is good, and looks good when he fights. He has a chance like the other guy's did. Cotto lacks the same thing the other guy's did. Defense

  6. Floyd is the pound for pound champ... "Floyd fights nobodys..." I didn't hear people complaining when they were saying "ricky hatton is going to kill floyd"... get over it.. Everyone wants to see the Cotto and Floyd fight.. it will be a great fight... but IF floyd wins... all people will say is "Well he needs to beat paul williams or antonio margarito"... Floyd beats everyone who steps into his path. And as soon as he does, that person automatically becomes a "nobody".. Give credit where credit is due... Floyd is an awesome boxer. He may not be a knockout artist or a slugger.. but when it comes to the sweet science of boxing, no one is better at it than Floyd.

I don't know about you.. but if i'm in the ring with a guy like Oscar... i don't take chances either. Why take chances when its clear that theres no way in h**l that oscar will outbox floyd? Thats like having Ladanian Tomlinson as your running back, and just throwing deep 80 yard passes to him instead of running up the middle like you should. Think about it.

Floyd is the best pound for pound until someone proves otherwise.

  7. he has the titles and has won the fights, he has a unorthodox way of fighting,he runs around the ring.... but he proved him self over and over again....i don't like his style of fighting or his attitude but the guy wins matches and thats respectable.....i really want see him againts cotto..

  8. no mayweather is ducking Miguel Cotto and all the welterweights he either fights old men or non welterweights

  9. I don't really see how you can not say Floyd is the best. He just out boxes everyone. So what if he tends to hit and run? He boxes for the points, he's smart, he knows he probably won't out last anyone in a slugfest. Look at what he did to Hatton, come on now, he destroyed him, he picked him apart and then knocked him out. His strategy is always to out last his opponent. But I'll agree, Cotto is the next best thing. Put him in the ring with Floyd, and I might have to take Cotto.

  10. Perhaps you have a point with your argument and I can respect your opinion. At times I wonder about his choice and timing of opposition. Coming up in weight or past their prime, I still think that Mayweather's caliber of opponents are better than most who would contend for top of the list. Personally, I have to wonder if Mayweather is not on top, then who is?

Can anyone really believe it's Miguel Cotto? Besides Shane Mosley and common opponent with Mayweather, Zab Judah, who has Cotto fought to make a strong claim for number one?

Then you have Joe Calzaghe who is undefeated as well. The problem many see with him is that his record is not respected because most of his opponent are not known in the United States. So if you're one of those who feel the same way about Calzaghe then I guess that rules him out for pound-for-pound king.

Kelly Pavlik is also undefeated, but his biggest name is Jermain Taylor, twice. I think he needs a bigger resume than that to make his claim for top spot, pound-for-pound.

Finally, we have Manny Pacquiao, who many rates as number two pound-for-pound. Pacquiao could definitely make a claim based on his fights with Morales, Marquez and Barrera, as well as the fights in between. I like Pacquiao a lot, but being honest when you compare the skill of Mayweather and Pacquiao, Mayweather's is far superior and his style would give Pacquiao problems, just as Marquez's style almost gave Pacquiao issues that could have cost him the fight, both times. That alone rules out Pacquiao over Mayweather for me.

So with all that said, who else could we put on top at this very moment, if not Mayweather?

  11. is floyd knocks out oscar he will remain p4p king for doing that. but if he just wins like he did the first time then im sure he will be rannked number 2 p4p. and manny will take the number 1 for beating a prime p4p contender
