Question:

Flu Shots - Dangerous at this point?

Hi,

I'm a Canadian 18 year old male who has never, ever gotten any needles. I only ever went to school for half days due to athlete programs and was never made to get shots for some reason.

Now my question is, if I go somewhere tropical/even into the states. Am I in danger of life threatening viruses? Is it safe for me to get all the shots I need at this point in my life? Should I be getting them done all at once? If not how much of a time period should I space them out?

I have never had any problems with health due to not having shots, as a matter of fact I would probably be one of the most healthy people you could run into. I get a cold maybe once every two years. And I live in winter 8 months out of the year. I'm also, not allergic to anything. Nor have I ever been inflicted with Chicken Pox.

I'm just looking for confirmation that it's okay to get them done to go to the Dominican Republic... I am partially frightened that because I missed all of them growing up, they may affect me differently now.

Any help would be amazingly appreciated!

Thanks,

  1. There is nothing wrong with your getting your vaccinations now at 18. Why would there be? If you are going to tropical places or third world countries then yes you need them.  And no you cannot get them done all at once because most shots have to be given over a certain amount of time.
