Fluent Bravo anchors West Indies
Darren Bravo’s fluent exhibition with the bat in trying conditions helped http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 rack up 69 for 1 against Sri Lanka by tea at the Pallekele International Stadium. The game only managed 23.3 overs till the second session.
However, only 8.3 overs were possible in the second session of play as rain interrupted West Indies progress. In the short session, the visitors scored 24 runs without any loss.
Daren Bravo continues to amaze cricket experts on his first tour. The younger Bravo cracked up two half centuries in the previous two Test matches. The talented left hand batsman carried his form to the 3rd Test. As a result, Bravo looked fluent
in his 44-run innings as he mixed attack with defence in order to avoid any further hiccups, after the first ball loss of Chris Gayle.
On the other hand, Devon Smith, who has replaced http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Adrian-Barath-c42094 for the third Test, has been impressive for his resilient innings of 22 runs. In his comeback match, the opening batsman provided Bravo with a valuable support. As an opener, Smith displayed
great technique and composure to survive in tough batting conditions.
Pallekele Stadium’s debut was delayed by the damp outfield as it rained before the start of play. The third Test lost almost an hour’s play. In the overcast conditions, Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to field first. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 was blessed with a perfect
start as the home team struck on the very first ball of the day.
Suranga Lakmal dismissed Chris Gayle on a first delivery to boost Sri Lanka’s morale, which has been down in the series. Seam bowlers did a pretty decent job as they bowled accurately in helpful conditions. On the other hand, the bowlers only picked a single
wicket.
Angelo Mathews and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ajantha-c42419 Mendis delivered venomously with the red cherry, but did not manage to pick up a wicket. Sri Lanka managed to deliver 8.3 overs as rain interrupted play in the second session.
Previously, Smith and Bravo assembled a 45-run stand in the first session as only 15 overs were bowled. Sri Lanka will be disappointed as they only picked up a single wicket in 23 overs, especially, considering the overcast conditions.
West Indies, on the other hand, will be completely satisfied as they did not lose another wicket in the day’s play. Darren Bravo is all set to pile up a massive individual score, if Bravo succeeds in doing so, then the visitors will be scoring a huge first
innings total to put the home team under.
