  1. If the bird is fluffing up her feathers and acting depressed, it usually means that the bird has an illness.  Budgies are prey animals.  If they show weakness, their flock will abandon them and they will get eaten.  If you finally notice something's wrong, there's a chance that it could be serious.  I would strongly suggest taking her to the vet.

One time my budgie did that for a while.   What had happened was that he got depressed (yes birds can get depressed.)  My family gave him a lot of love and was about to take him to the vet, but he suddenly got better when I came and talked to him.

  2. Hi,

Yeh it could mean that shes sick but it could also be because she too hot and so is letting hot air out, or it could be because shes scared.

    She may also be sleeping.

  3. No, that means shes happy, and that helps also when they are hot.

  4. No, it doesn't mean she's sick at all.  It's something that all birds do.

  5. Don't worry, your budgie is fine. It's just her way of keeping herself fresh and clean.

  6. If she is shaking and fluffing up her feathers and grooming herself....that is normal

  7. It could be .. but it's more likely she is either too hot or cold .

  8. it is supposed to mean that they are sick but it might not. If your budgie's chest is moving rapidly or its lost its appitite then seek your vet immediatly

  9. Isf she is only fluffing up her feathers, but seems otherwise well (not off her food etc) then I wouldn't worry. My budgie does this when he feels a bit cold or is sleeping.
