Question:

Fluid intake vs output in child (urine)?

I know I need to ask a doctor but they are closed right now. My daughter is doing a 2 day diary of fluid intake vs amount voided (urine out). Does anyone have an idea of what the balance should be? I never thought of asking when they gave me the form.

Also I know I should be able to figure this out but I cannot find a conversion chart in my cook book, how many ounces are in a gallon? They want everything in ounces and want to know if she drinks a gallon or more (which is considered excessive). And I do not have an empty gallon container to fill with my measuring cup.

  1. The doctor may not WANT you to know what is considered normal output versus input because some people fudge those results if they know what the doctor is looking for.  Don't worry too much about if she is okay until the doctor gives you his findings.

Anyway, there are 8 ounces in a cup, 16 ounces in a pint, 2 pints in a quart, and 4 quarts in a gallon...that means there are 128 ounces in a gallon.

  2. There are 8 ounces in a cup, four cups to a quart and four quarts to

a gallon. You do the math. Don't expect the input and output to match because fluid is taken into your cells to keep your body running so is not excreted.

  3. go to the 24 hour drs online its called www.webmd.com and they should be about to help you there 8 ozs is a glass 32 ozs is a quart 64 is half gallon 128 is a gallon  so now keep track on paper so if they drink 16 ozs thats a glass and a half
