Hi all,

I've a headjoint question; is it possible to get an upgrade to an existing headjoint? For instance, send my headjoint to a company and have the riser replaced? Thank you all in advance for your help, I do appreciate it!

  1. I'm pretty sure that if you want an upgrade, your going to have to get a new headjoint. If it's it been under a year though, then you can probably replace it and then pay the difference.

  2. HI Pat....

For the most part,  I would say that custom head joint makers would not reconstruct your head joint.  It is not in their best interest to work on anything but their own models but if your flute is a Yamaha, Gemeinhardt or Armstrong, it just might be possible.  You would have to phone the company and ask

If I were thinking about upgrading,  I would just buy a new head joint.   Say even if you have a Gemeinhardt... which is a little behind on their headjoint technology... you could order a Yamaha who does produce a great sounding and free blowing headjoint.  You should be able to get a Yamaha head for about $350.00 and it will make all the difference on a Gemeinhardt - Armstrong - Emerson - or Artley flute.

If you have more bucks to spend... then you can contact one of the custom headjoint makers.  If you are interested in this route,  please email and I will give you some names.

Hope you are able to get that upgrade and inprove your sound :))

Thank you for reading my answer and good luck
