Flute help?

I play the flute in my school band and for some reason i can't get f#/gb to come out can anyone help me? Please!?!

  1. If it is the lower 2 F#, then you probably have a leak somewhere that a tech can easily fix.  If it is the THIRD octave F#, you might want to check - besides leaks - that you have your thumb OFF the thumb Bb key.


  2. As above it depends which f#! Both above me said it best! Take it to a music shop to get checked for leaks! If its the low f# It also may be your embouchure so experiment! What does your Flute teacher say!

HI Amy........   before you get too stressed on whether it is you or the flute,   you might take your flute into the music store to have a repair tech play the instrument to check for leaking pads, or bent keys... neither of which is a serious problem for them to fix rather quickly.  After you have eliminated the flute being the problem... as it might not be...   you may not be supporting your air enough to get that F#  out clearly, so long strong tone study exercises, should help you learn and know just how much air you will need to produce a good sound for all of your notes,  including the  F#.   Have your flute checked out first,  as you don't need to be thinking it is you, if the flute is really the problem
