  1. Hi Kat.  :))  Great question because there are many flute players that are not happy with their flute tone.   There will be times when you use warm air and times cool air and even some times faster air than at others.   The one proven way to develop (not get) a good flute tone is to work on Tone Studies.   My students are put on the Trevor Wye Volume 1 - Tone Studies book about 1 month after they start lessons with me.   If you can find that book,  your tone will improve gradually,  as this is a matter of strenghening your diaphragm and controling your lips and air stream.   Until you are able to get the book.. and hopefully you will....  just try working on a scale and play each note.. holding for at least 4 long counts.  Then go up the scale one octave and back down.   I have my students do tone study for 15 mintues a day so this gives you an idea of how long to practice the "long tones".   A beautiful flute tone is not "gotten"  it is developed by hard work and practice.    Give it a try and don't be impatient... as it does really take a good long while.  Have you ever heard of James Galway... one of the premiere flute solo artists in the world?   Well,  at 78 years old.... the man still does tone studies and works on improving his sound.   If it is good enough for him....  it is good enough for us.     Best wishes!!  :))

  2. the temperture of the air blown does not make an impact.. you need to focus on blowing evenly across the  tone hole and breath support.. and i would also suggest taking the last two section of the flute off and practice blowing across the tonehole by itself. Good Luck!

  3. Hi! What kind of flute do you have??? The type actually matters a lot. Playing on a nickel flute will not sound near as nice as a silver or gold flute. Also, open holed makes your sound prettier (as long as you don't use plugs!). Things to think on!!
