Question:

Flute repair cost estimates?

My marching flute is pretty screwed up right now; the soldered post for the thumb keys broke off, and the spring for the A-flat key broke too.

I really can't afford to spend a lot right now, so about how much do you think it would cost to get the flute fixed?

  1. Hi Michael,

If your flute is really in bad playing condition...  you might just need a tune up and refurbish.... meaning all of the broken issues repaired and a re-pad to put it into good playing condtion.   This is going to cost you about $250.00....  you might as well buy an older model, but in good condition used flute for marching for about $150.00

If you just want the post resoldered and the A flat spring replaced...  you will probably be charged no more than $40.00.... if that is ALL they do.  Some of the charge is going to be for labor.

Take your flute in and ask for an estimate of exactly what you want done...  This way you will know before you leave the shop, if you will agree to let them do the repairs... and also, they cannot charge you anymore than the estimate they provided you with.

    Hope that helps.

    Thank-you for reading.
