Fly fishing with chironomids?

should i use a floating like with a sinking tip, or just a sinking tip, thanks.

  1. In general, lake fishing with chironomids is best done with a sinking line. Most people would suggest using an intermediate (clear) line as a place to start.

    However, if you do not have a sinking line, or the money/interest to get one, you can use your floating line with a sinking tip to get the fly down where you need to be. You may find some limitations depending on the depth of the lake you want to fish. This forum thread talks about that a little.
