Question:

Flyback driver current?

Hi all, I'm planning to build a very simple, single transistor, flyback driver. One can see the schematic here: http://www.powerlabs.org/flybackdriver.htm

I just need it to output low power and voltage not exceeding a couple kV. From the way the website describes a flyback it seems that the circuit can output very HIGH current and voltage. Thus can anyone guide me how I can reduce and estimate the current by changing the values of the components (i.e. resistors)? And how about the output voltage?

Thanks!

  1. As the web page says, reducing the supply to 5 volts, is enough to operate the flyback at reduced power.

  2. if you increase the resistances of the resistors the voltage should stay the same and your current will drop
