Flyers host Hurricanes looking for win after Canucks drop points losing 4-2
Philadelphia Flyers who has emerged as one of the strong contenders for the Stanley Cup will be hosting the Carolina Hurricanes in what will be the second game of Thursday. This will be the third meeting between the two sides during the course of the season
with Philadelphia Flyers winning both the previous games.
Flyers won the first game after a very tight meeting 3-2 while they absolutely thrashed the Hurricanes in the second game coming up with a comfortable 8-1 demolishing victory. Jeff Carter was amazing during the game as he scored a hat-trick which led the
Philadelphia Flyers to their highest winning margin after 2007.
Philadelphia Flyers has been one of the very strong teams in the league who have come up with regular wins. In fact in doing so, they maintained the third spot for a team to score as many as 75 points after playing 53 points. They are still on course to
break the ultimate bench even though they lost the last game against the Dallas Stars this Saturday. Considering the fact that Flyers have only lost 13 games out of the 53 games played so far, tells a story of its own. Without any doubts Flyers are the strongest
contenders of the Stanley Cup this time out.
Philadelphia Flyers players are also reaching personal milestones with Claude Giroux becoming the first Philadelphia Flyers player to scoring 50 points. He reached the feat while playing against the Dallas Stars. Giroux has been absolutely brilliant during
the course of the season and has scored 19 goals and made 31 assists which has played an important role in the Flyers success this time.
Flyers have been very fortunate unlike some of the other teams in the league as they have seen contributions coming in from every player. Each and every member on the roster is trying hard and they are surely being rewarded for they have done so far.
Brain Boucher, goal keeper of the Flyers came up with a dominating performance against the Dallas Stars as his 30 saves saw them winning the game. Flyers have 12 out of their last 15 games and things are only getting better.
Philadelphia Flyers have played 53 games so far in the season out of which they have won 35 in overtime and 5 games in overtime scoring 75 points. Carolina Hurricanes on the other hand has played 54 games in the season out of they have won 26 games in regulation
time, 7 games on overtime to score 59 points.
Carolina Hurricanes has also been amongst some of the decent performers in the season as they have lost only one game out of the last six. They lost their last game against the Devils and this game is one which is going to be hard to win. Hurricanes need
to step up their game if they want to keep themselves in the play-off running as they face Tampa Lightning and Atlanta Thrashers after this which makes things all the more difficult as all these team are among the tough teams this season.
"We're going to play some very difficult teams," coach Paul Maurice said. "(Knowing) how to play these important games on the road is a necessity for a team that wants that playoff success. You have to be able to win very tight games against good opponents
on the road."
Flyers are favourites of win the game but as we saw against the Devils even the best get beaten so if Hurricanes manage to come up with some strong plays they might very well notch up a win.
