I heard you need to join the military to fly the 747's and make the big bucks. Is it true?

  1. You dont HAVE to but it would look really good on your resume.

  2. You will not get hired to fly 747s without having lots of hours in the air.  One way to get that is to join the military and fly planes.  However, in the military, you will not choose which plane you fly, you will fly what you are told to fly.  If you spend your 8 years or 12 years or 4 years flying fighters, that will help, but it won't be as good as if you had flown bombers or tankers.

Getting from where you are (apparently not a pilot yet) to where you want to go (flying 747s) will take many years.  You can do that as a civilian, starting small and working your way up, or as a military pilot.

You might get there a bit faster by going the military route, but the cost will be a loss of freedom for a few years.  It's not a bad choice, just make sure you understand the true costs.  Money and time aren't the only ways we pay for choices we make.

By the way, don't focus on the type of plane, focus on the class of flying.

    Don't know what that means?

    Time to do some homework.

  3. Well...........the military and the airforce would teach you to fly and obtain your milesflying time...........and the license ad then maybe you could later move on to fly the real big 747sand thn soar away to a eally rich life goodluck

  4. Nope

  5. well im not sure, but i know most comercial pilots learn from the RAF etc.

  6. no, you need to buy a 747 type rating

  7. no, this is absolute bull. u only need to get a PPL.

    (privates pilot license)

  8. The problem is the training. Free in the Air Force but hideously expensive on your own. The airlines want experience before turning someone loose on these machines. Military experience is the only affordable, practical way to earn it.

  9. Sometimes all what you hear is not true.
