in 9 days i will be flying home on a nonstop flight from chicago to my home. it is a United flight & when my stepdad got the tickets he called first to make sure that i could fly with no problem. i have a valid unrestricted drivers lisence but i am under 18. i know the people on the phone call with united said i could fly with no problem but i want to be sure? do you think i will have a problem? & my friends want to pick me up @ the airport, will that be fine since i am flying like an adult?

i suppose i am just worried that they might freak out becuase i am under 18?

  1. you are fine.  You don't have to go as "unaccompanied minor", though I think that service would be available if your folks wanted to pay for it.  Nobody is going to freak out

  2. Once you are on your flight you will have no problems, you can't get lost, where is there to go? you will be looked after, If your parents ask for "Unacompanied Minor " services at the airport. the attendants will take you on and off the plane and find your seat for you too,  but I think you should just set your mind to the fact that you ARE capable of flying alone, you are not a baby anymore who needs babysitters are you?

  3. even though you are 17 they are going to treat you like you're 18. i flew from my house to my family's house in alabama when i was 16 or 17 and i had a 4 hour layover in chicago. no biggie. they also don't care who picks you up. it will work out fine, especially since it's a nonstop flight.

  4. no to the problem thing and your friends can but you should be fine

  5. No problem. United says that if you are 17 or older, you're an adult. Anyone can pick you up.
