  1. you could go direct  depends o your destination

  2. depends.the only airport that has flights to south america is sydney airport.so obviously if you're flying from other cities, you're first stopover's gonna be sydney.

here is the list of airlines from sydney to south america:

    1. aerolineas argentinas: to buenos aires, argentina

    2. lan airlines: to santiago, chile

    3. qantas: to buenos aires, argentina [begins nov 24]

but if you're heading somewhere else, your stop over will be either buenos aires or santiago

  3. depends on the airline i guess, either tahiti or LA maybe mexico city.

i know flying to LA or SF from sydney the stopover is in tahiti.

  4. uranus ?

  5. Yes, "who I am" is right and all three airlines are "trans-polar" (over the Antartica)

This is the most efficient way, and shortest!

After you arrive to your first point of entry: SCL/Santiago de Chile for code-share Lan and Qantas, and EZE/Buenos Aires for AA/Aerolineas Agentinas, it is up-to you to travel around South-America.

The long way is via: YVR/Vancouver, Canada; SFO/San Francisco and/or LAX/Los Angeles, etc.

Remember to enroll in a frequent flyer programme to accumulate  miles.
