I will be taking my first flight Friday on a trip to New York. Can I use my laptop while in flight? (I have mobile broadband internet access.) Also, I have medications I take, do I need to check them in, or just pack them with my luggage?

  1. You can use your laptop while in flight however, I'm pretty sure internet access will not work.

All airlines recommend you take prescription medications on board with you... just in case your luggage is delayed or even worse, lost.

  2. don`t sit within 5 seats of anyone who might have eaten at white castle on the way to the airport.

  3. you can take your laptop. you can only use it when you reach 10,000 feet, they will tell you. internet won't work in the air.

you can bring your medications with you. if they are liquid and more than 3 oz have your name on the bottle w/a doctors note. it is not advised to put them in your luggage because the temperature in the cargo may deactivate them

  4. You can use your laptop, but you can not use the internet, even if you have mobile broadband access. All portable electronics must be turned off once the cabin door is closed. The only items you can use onboard (above 10,000ft) are ones that don't transmit a signal. The flight attendants will make an announcement when you can use approved portable electronics. So no cell phones, wireless, Bluetooth, AM/FM radios, walkie-talkies, etc. The likelyhood of a signal affecting the plane's electronics is small, but would you really want to risk it? Instead, plan on bringing a movie or some games to keep you occupied.

As for your medication, DEFINITELY bring it with you in your carryon. If you luggage was to get misrouted or delayed, you would be without them. All airlines advise passengers to keep medications, car keys, and cash in carryons only.

  5. Laptops can be used to a certain height.

As for medications, they must have your name on them and a doctors note if liquid im pretty sure. Don't pack them in your luggage because they can get ruined or your luggage may be lost.

My brother is diabetic, and he therefore has needles and poky things (along with insulin and apple juice) with him on planes. If you have medications like that, you can usually get by with just telling the security that you're diabetic and showing them the stuff.
