Flying small aircraft from Fresno Cal to Detroit, Best route?

Looking for best route from Fresno Cal to Detroit thru the mountains? Anone done this?

Check out accu kwik, it will give you the preferred routing, and make your life easier. Remember, you'll get what atc wants you to fly, not what you filed

What is your cruise altitude? the MEA on V230 coming out of FAT is 14300.

If you go south on V23 to EHF and then V197, the highest MEA there is 10,000.   That is about 120nm south before you make your turn to the east.

From there Heading east to FLG SAF area... most V-ways are MEA 10,000 and a lot of the MORAs are close to that as well.

Between SAF and ABQ seems to be the lowest place to cross the rockies if you head that general direction.

Once you get to DHT (from either V190 or V234,,, about 150 SE of Pueblo, CO) you will be east of all the MOAs and you can go direct.  

Great circle route is 1700nm.  This route is about 200-300 miles farther but I think is your best bet in terms of terrain.

If you can get into the Flight Levels, there are obviously some more direct options for you.
