Question:

Flying to Barcelona?

I want to fly to Barcelona for a cruise... I'd like to go first class (from the U.S. west coast). But it seems to be very expensive to fly into Barcelona. I heard something about flying to another European city and taking a smaller, discounted airline into Spain. Is this the best way to go? If so, which city should I fly into and what is the name of some of the airlines to Spain. Also, if anyone has a recomendation for a reasonably priced airline to one of the European cities with lay flat seats in first class, I'd love to hear about it! Thanks!

  1. You have got a long flight ahead from usa to barcelona. If you went to uk, its going to be a very long flight, but,  I have just got 2 flights to BCN for £100 gbp (approx 200$ i think) so add your flights  to uk. My flights are for November

  2. Take a nonstop fly.

Last year I take Delta from JFK to Barcelona and they fly was OK. Remember that making and overnight nonstop fly to Europe is good idea because you can sleep and you reach your destination in the morning. If you try a cheaper flight with multiple connection you loss precious time to expend on the great city of Barcelona. You can make arrangements in the Hotel to guard the luggage if you arrive in the morning prior the check-ing.

  3. London Heathrow is the busiest airport  so it's cheapest to fly there....

  4. If you plan to make this a once in a lifetime trip, spring for first class on a non-stop.  I just came back flying non-stop from Newark, NJ on Continental.  We spent 3 days in Barcelona before embarking on a 10 day cruise on Disney Cruise Line's ship "Magic".

I met other passengers who connected through London, Paris, Dublin, and Berlin.   Several people lost their luggage on the connections and spent most of the first day on ship buying clothes for their kids and for themselves (early sourvenirs).

Non-Stop was alot smoother...and I'm glad I picked that route.

  5. i just came back from a trip from the US to Barcelona, and I flew to Frankfurt and then to Barcelona. The airline was Lufthansa. I prefer this airline. However it was a bit pricey. You should check it out and see which is right for you (it depends on how much you're willing to spend) but if you're looking for a good airline, I'd recommend flying to Frankfurt with Lufthansa, but, of course its not the only way. Hope that helps.. and have a good trip! i loved it there...
