My mare foaled yesturday and had problems. It was her first foal and it was coming out the right way,but its left foreleg ripped through her organs and was sticking out of her r****m.So my mare was trying to give birth but could because the foal was stuck, until the vet got there(3 hours later). The colt died, and my mare had surgery and she survived with a $400 vet bill and $ 1200 surgery bill...total of $1600 for a dead colt.Has this happend to you before?

  2. I'm so sorry to hear that! that's an awful thing to happen! i recently lost my horse i brought her back in january this year from a trekking centre that was closing down she was a 15 hh cob and 23yrs old we only paid £300 including saddle, bridle, rug etc. the only reason i brought one so old was because i had lost my confidence horseriding from a bad fall i broke my ankle and i needed a horse to get my confidence back she was in really good condition the only thing wrong with her was she had ringbone but it was all sorted out,but then last month i went out to feed her and my other horse and they was fine i went off to do something and 15mins later it was about 8.30pm i had one last look over to check them before i went in and she was lay flat out by the gate so i said to my boyfriend thats abit odd so we went over and she started rolling she kept on rolling then eventually got up went down the field abit then started to roll again, so my boyfriend said 'oh its probably just the flies' cause there was loads out that evening so he convinced me that was what was wrong and i went in.After about 20mins i kept thinking about it and decided that id better go and check on her, lucky i did as when i found her she was in a really bad way with colic as i suspected, she had cut all her eye open from rolling around in pain, they say to not let a horse roll when theyve got colic cause of twisting there gut but there was no way of stopping her so we got the vet out he tryed everything but within an hour of me first spotting it she had been put to sleep. So because we knew it was gonna be quite a big vet bill we agreed to letting her go to the meat man which i thought they actyally paid you for the horse! but the next day she was taken away and when we had the bill through it turned out  the vet bill was £350 then instead of her going for meat she was taken to be cremated!so we had to pay £450 for that aswell! so in the end we paid just over a thousand pound and no horse at the end of it all! so now ive got my new horse insured!again im so sorry for your loss that was really badluck!
