Question:

Foam for my recording studio?

ok so we put a recording studio in when we finished our basement and its finally done! yayyy! anyway i want to get foam for it, but its pretty expensive so i was thinking of getting four large sheets to cover most, but not all, of the walls. The room is about 9 feet by 6 feet. Is it the kind of thing like the more foam the better the sound? will covering most of the walls be enough for good quality sound or should all the walls be covered?

thanks in advanced!

  1. Well more foam definitely doesn't hurt you.

The whole idea of foam in recording is to kill any echo or reverb out of the room.  That way you are just getting the true sounds of what you are recording and no extra noise.

It really depends on your budget for what you can do and also what you are using the room for.  These pads here are pretty flexible for what they can be used for.

So really it depends on the room.  You just have to see if how much foam you need to kill any of the reverb out of it.
