Question:

Foam rubber, can it be recycled?

I work in Aged care and they often throw out old mattresses. It was mentioned that the tip has put a charge on dumping mattresses @ $20 each.

Now the mattress is foam rubber that has a vinyl cover on it, I watched someone cutting one up the other day and the foam was unstained due to the cover. It got me thinking as to whether these could be recycled and if there was anywhere in Sydney that would do it.

  3. Well, you were doing good until I got to the Sydney part.

I saw a documentary on the Discovery channel where they were recycling old cars here in the states.

The foam from the seats and the gasket materials used in the car where recycled and turned into bio-diesel.

You might want to check it out and see if you can find it on either TLC or the Discovery Chanel.  its been about 2 months ago.

    Good luck
