Focail Maith to surprise joint-favourites in Lingfield’s Hindleap Handicap (Div II)
The punters have a tough decision to make at Lingfield, where ten speedy horses are geared up to fire in Hindleap Handicap (Div II), this Wednesday. According to the betting forecast, Beat Route and Noble Silk are enjoying the highest odds of 4 to 1. To
us, their chances are not absolute.
Those who are interested in staking money should keep an eye on Focail Maith, who represents an in-form yard. Trainer, John Ryan is on song these days, and could guide the 4-year-old to a fascinating triumph.
The bay gelding will be ridden by Jamie Spencer, who has a good record when joining hands with John Ryan. The jockey was first and third on the previous two outings for John Ryan. The pair has plenty in favour, and Focail Maith can do the trick for them.
The Cathal Fegan-owned’s current form is a concern though. He was seventh and sixth on his previous two starts at Wolverhampton. Bred by D. Robb, the son of Oratorio is winless since January, when he beat Hurricane Hymnbook by a length’s distance at Kempton.
Today’s meeting is an ideal chance for Focail Maith to get back to the winning ways. He is facing no easy task. Noble Silk is flushed with pride after an easy triumph here in September.
After sharing the podium twice, the 3-year-old raised the standards to register his first triumph by a length’s distance. Having opened his account in style, the Lucy Wadham-trained is aiming for more.
Beat Route is also ready to do something special after showing good improvement at Kempton last month. After recording an excellent win in October, the Michael Attwater-trained lost his direction for a while, when finished sixth at Windsor. His latest act
was an improvement one, and more is expected.
According to our calculations, the real battle is between Noble Silk and Focail Maith. The former of the two will be under tremendous pressure, stepping up to one mile and four furlongs on his handicap/AW debut.
The punters are likely to show keen interest in Beat Route, but he seems to have nothing more than prospects for a place on the podium. Good luck to all the horses.
