Foggy Nottingham hosts three heats of William Hill 480m Trophy on Monday
Alongside some other mega races, Nottingham hosted three high profile heats of the William Hill 480m Trophy on Monday night, February 6, 2012.
The biggest surprise of the evening was Jordansoilutions’ embarrassing defeat in the third heat. Charlie Lister's trainee was the most favourite in the competition, enjoying the odds of 2 to 1.
However, despite her superb early pace followed by a quick run, the black b***h was outperformed by C. Allsopp’s Boherna Bridge. The brindle dog was sent off with the winning chances of 9 to 4, and he stunned the audience by his near line lead.
His excellent show earned him a close ½-length victory, as he reached the winning post in 29.05 seconds. The high profile b***h, Brett Lee’s daughter, out of Miggs, could only manage to finish second on the chart.
It was certainly a disappointing outcome for, Jordansoilutions, the champion of last couple of Select Stakes at Colwick Park. Due to the thick fog at the venue, the competition started an hour’s delay.
The opening Heat saw Bower Impact, muscling his way to a classy victory. The spectators witnessed a nail-biting contest between Snipers Cruising, and Bower Impact, but the latter eventually sealed the top position by a head’s margin.
With the winning chances of 9 to 2, the black dog commenced the affair from the third stall. His near line lead helped him clock the area in 29.41 seconds, only a moment ahead of Snipers Cruising, who was sent as the 7 to 2 choice.
While the top-2 hounds displayed an excellent show, the 9 to 4 joint favourites, Dromana Max and Boher Conway failed to do well, finishing fourth and sixth on the table, respectively.
In the second heat, Fifis Romeo danced his way to a convincing triumph. The black dog, who was taking part in his first race in February, kicked off the event from the fifth stall.
After his discharge from the trap, Collision’s son, out of Fabulous Lourdes took 29.47 seconds to conclude the party, clinching a 1 ¼ lengths success. Including Fifis Romeo, four hounds were sent at the odds of 7 to 2, but only C. Allsopp’s trainee
could demonstrate a fine show.
C. Allsopp would have been a happy man, as his trainees grabbed first position in two heats of the William Hill Trophy.
