Question:

Foil highlighting myself?

So... my hair is long... (middle of my back) and when I used the cap to highlight it 6 weeks ago, it ripped my hair out trying to get the d**n thing off! lol... anyways... I am going to use foils this time.

Is it hard to do foil highlights by yourself, or should I get someone to help me? Should I get one of those combs that separates the highlights for you, or just use a rattail comb (or w/e its called)? That is going to be the hardest part, I think... but I'll figure it out...

So, I am just wondering if it is possible to do foil highlights yourself? Or do you need help? Obviously I'll need help for the back... but what about the front and top? Any personal experience?

BTW... I don't care if you don't think I should do it myself or I should go to a salon... It is just hair... and I like to do things myself... BE POSITIVE! LOL It will turn out great! LOL

THANKS!

  1. i'd say salon is safer... and probably worth it in the long run. good luck!

  2. dont do it yourself youll burn youreself and go bald!!!!!!!!

  3. It IS possible to do yourself, it just takes some practice manipulating the comb, foil, and product. You can use a rat tail, but you will grab more hair that way. Not too big a deal though. practice a few foils by using conditioner so you can get the feel of it before using bleach or color.
