Folders Faded out in Local Disc C?

It wasn't like that before..

and when i double click on the faded icons

is this a virus or something?

Do i have to reformat?

  1. Faded folders are hidden folders. Your system hides them to protect novice computer users from accidentally changing or deleted important files. I would suggest you just rehide the folders

    Start>Control Panel>Folder Options>View (the tab)> Do not show hidden folders


  2. no its not anything like a virus these are hidden folders and you enabled the view hidden folders check (in my computer>click view>click folder options> click view> and check do not display hidden folders) these folders are hidden because they are not supposed to be messed with as they could mess up your operating system or programms installed on your computer

  3. They look like system or hidden files. are you sure someone hasn't changed the folder options (tools->options) and changed the options in there to 'show system and hidden files and folders'

  4. Those Folders are hidden folders and should always be kept hidden

    Click Tools ~> Folder Options

    Go down to hidden files and folders

    select the radio button that says "do not show hidden files and folders"
