Folding bicycle in the office?

Question

I saw a folding bicycle for the first time on the street. Will it be a good idea to buy one to go to my job?

If I buy it, I will have to put it inside the facility. Will everybody be annoyed to see it there in the office?

Have you had such experience? I need advice.

Nothing angers me more than seeing a folding bike in the office ! That is just ridiculous !

Ask them if they would mind a folding bicycle and is there a place you can keep one . worst comes to worst , just get a bike lock and lock it up outside .

I park my non folding electric assist bike in a closet at work.  I charge it there too.  My co workers are envious of my gas free ride, but supportive.

If it is out of the way and melds with the decor why should anyone mind? Ask your boss before you buy about where to keep it.

I'm betting your company will let you store the bike somewhere, even like a janitor's broom closet.  Nobody will use the closet during the day, so it shouldn't bother anyone.  There's got to be an out of the way corner it won't disturb folks.

When I worked on the loading dock at my old company, we'd let people store their bikes there during the day.  There was this one alcove that was too small to use for anything, except storage and the bikes fit perfectly, out of the traffic pattern and easy to get in and out of the building.

i would find out if there is room for a non-folding bike

are there bike racks?

do you have to take it inside?

why?

you will be much happier with a 'real' bike

folders are either

crummy, heavy and cost $200 or

good, fairly light but cost $1500

there is no in between

the brakes on the cheap ones are very marginal

on all of them the tiny wheels make going over bumps

much bumpier and potentially unsafe, as well as

  making pedaling harder in general

get a real bike

for $400 you can get a really nice commuter bike

from giant, schwinn, specialized, novara/REI, etc
