Question:

Folding help?

I have just spent my whole day doing the BIGGEST pile of laundry you have ever seen (LOL) and while I was folding up the clean stuff I had to fold 2 fitted bedsheets (you know the ones with the elasticated edges) When I folded them they looked all untidy and I'd love to have neat folded fitted bedsheets, does anyone know how to fold them so they look neat?

Also, any other cool folding tips and techniques are welcome - I like learning new things.

One more thing... anyone know how to get an old black biro ink stain out of a light-medium grey jog bottoms? Cos I'm this close to just bleaching it and hoping for the best lol! Thanks everyone! x

  1. If the sheets have the elastic all around... then I put the corners together and the fold

If only two sides are elastic then I fold the straight sides in half then in half again then I fold the straight folds over the side that has the elastic then fold again then in three.

You hair spray to get ink out of clothes...

spray the ink wet with hair spray then rub a white bar soap on top spray wet again with hairspray and rub with bar soap again spray wet again and wash in cold water with like colors. If that doesn't get all the ink out then do the hairspray and bar soap again.  The hair spray and bar soap WILL work to get the ink out!!!  It just depends on how much ink is there and how long it's been there.

    Enjoy ink free clothes!

If you lived near where I work (Darcies) You could dropp it off for me to do for you...I also give people folding lessions...they ask...I teach...

  2. Martha Stewart has excellent folding tips.

I fold the fitted sheet in half lengthwise and tuck both corners on one side into their opposite corners, then fold the fitted sheet in half two more times to form a square.

I fold the top sheet in half lengthwise, then in half again.  Lay the fitted "square" on one end of the top sheet.

Fold the pillow case(s) into a rectangle and lay on top of the fitted sheet.

Finally, flip the other end of the top sheet over the pillow case(s) and fitted sheet to form a sheet set.  This works great when you have limited linen closet space.

Also, regarding your ink stain, I use with success Carbona Stain Devils Ink & Crayon purchased at Kroger or Randalls.

  3. Don't bleach! Try hair spray, then rub gently. I had an ink stain question not long ago, and that was the answer that worked for me! I had ball point pen on my fave pink cotton t-top, spayed it wet with hair spray, rubbed it in gently and popped it in the washer. Ink all came out and the hair spray didn't leave a mark, either.

    Good luck

  4. Ah, the dreaded fitted sheet! Lol.

I tried a bunch of tricks until I found a method that worked for me (and my available linen closet space.)   I have to agree with the other posters, Martha Stewart has a good explanation for folding fitted sheets -- as well as tips for towels, clothes, etc.

If that doesn't work, I say take the "mom" poster up on her offer. :)

  5. On Martha Stewarts TV show she showed how to fold a fitted sheet.  It is easier if you lay in on the bed, fold in half, smooth and tuck in the rounded corners and smooth again so they are flat and keep folding until it works.
