My last Q was about the back pain i am having.... i went to dr and she said that she thinks i may have actually injured my back somehow (BUT good news she does not think that ny disk is bulging~ I had that problem before pregnancy and it seemed to work itself out) She gave me lots of back exercises to try and she gave me 2 prescriptions for a muscle relaxer and vicodin (i have not filled them yet) I really love my dr and trust her i just wanted to see what some of you think.....thanks, GOD BLESS!!!

  1. I find that Ibo works just as well for me as most pain pills. But everyone is different. Ibo for one Tylenol for others.

    Hope you feel better soon.

    God bless! <><

  2. You will be fine with the Vicodin. Vicodin, though strong, is safe during pregnancy for short term use. Using it habitually over the entire pregnancy would not be good. The only risk in that is that the baby becomes addicted to it and has withdrawals when born. (You can double check me on safefetus.org if there's doubt.)

It will be safe to take. You are only going to be taking them for a short time while your back heals. Also, realize that with the hormone relaxin in your system it will be very easy to pull muscles and disks. Movements you could do easily before, might now result in injury. Dont lift a lot, be careful how you bend and twist. I pulled my shoulder out the other day in the fabric store carrying a roll of fabric that was heavier and more awkward than I realized. Silly me!

:) You'll be fine hon. Take the medicine. The baby doesnt need you stressing, in pain, etc.

  3. About taking the meds?

I would only take them if I was in really bad pain. Otherwise I'd go for tylenol- or just a hot bath if that would help. I'm sure if they were too harmful your doc would never prescribe them. I think the problem is not that the medicine can harm the baby (at least for vicodin) I think the problem is people can get addicted and so can the baby. I just wouldn't take it every day unless the pain was too much.
