Follow up on Playstation / TV connection

Question

HiI bought a lead similar to the one you suggested. However it only works if I connect the S-Video lead, just connecting the 3 phono connectors alone does not work at all. If I connect the S-video it works, but there is no sound. It does not help that the TV sockets are a different colour to the cable. I connected the one labelled to the yellow plug; does it matter which way round the other two are? Many thanks for your assistance.
