Follow up q: how to make a love bird's nest?

pls tell me how and step by step if possible....

and if u thnk the answer would be "that i would give them nesting materials like newspaper etc."... what if they are too small and they do not like people touching them.. what would i do?????

Hi,

When i had lovebirds i gave them sheets of newspaper and off cuts of wood, as lovebirds will chew little strips of stick it in their rump feathers and will then take it to their nest box. Make sure the wood is clean though so that you don't poison the birds.

Are you trying to breed them? Are they old enough and healthy enough to breed? Do you have them on a special breeding diet which is needed before they mate?  Have you considered that your female birds may become ill or be egg bound or produce unhealthy chicks? Do you have money for vet care if something goes wrong? Do you know how to hand feed a bird? Do you know what you will do with the chicks as they will need their own cages- otherwise they will breed with each other.

There are so many things to consider before attempting to breed birds and failure could be deadly. This is not something to attempt if you are not able to answer these questions and you must know how to properly take care of them through all the steps of breeding. Otherwise you are putting your birds and any possible babies in great danger. Better not to breed them and just enjoy your birds and read up on what is involved before considering this big step.
