If gas reaches even $5 a gallon everything will go up drastically inprice and most of us would have to quit working,in cases where driving to work is nesissary.Im curious what your threshold is,I would probably pack it up at 8 a gallon and move into the woods,if I didnt live where I worked.

  1. Opt for an older, more gas efficient car (my stick-shift 1997 Toyota gets 38 miles to the gallon), take the bus/train, and depending on distance, ride a bike.

    All viable alternatives =]

  2. DONT GO THER

  3. Well, what would happen is people would be forced to either move closer to their work or someplace where public transportation were available.  Voters would also pressure elected officials to invest in public transportation projects.

Currently, Americans use waaaay more gas than is necessary.  If every American got a fuel-efficient car, carpooled and used public transport when possible, we could probably cut our gas consumption by half, which would mean spending as much on gas as we did when the price per gallon was half of what it is now.  We have plenty of room for reduction, moving to the woods isn't necessary just yet.
