Question:

(Follow your heart) & (The heart can lead you astray). Contradictory?

I have experienced both. Following my heart and feeling great, and following my heart and making stupid choices that worked out worse.

So should we or should we not follow our hearts..and when do we know, it's Right to follow it. And not foolish.

Sounds ridiculous but are there two kinds of hearts or two levels? One that's more superficial..and one that is deeper? And it's the deeper one we are supposed to reach?

  1. For me, I follow both my heart and logic. They both have the potential to lead me astray, but in such a case, I (hopefully) learn not to make the same mistake again. Cheers.

  2. Yes, they are contradictory.  But they're proverbs.  Not logical statements in a geometric proof.  You can't believe everything proverbs say...that's just a bunch of people trying to sound wise, or putting together whatever combination of words sounds right to them.

  3. Everything is about balance.  You can't always follow your heart, because it only understands emotion.  But you can't always follow your head because it only understands information and logic.  You have to find a balance between the two.

  4. Follow your heart, but think with your brain!!!

You could still follow your heart, but you need to think ahead and not just jump into things.

    That's what I do nowadays.

  5. When do we know? When we do know....

There is no such a thing as stupid choices..there is stupid people whom cannot handle it...stupidity is originated in a mind, not in a heart.

  6. Aquire wisdom through studying classic works. There are no guarantees, but there is increasing your chances.

  7. use your own modified version of logic.  you are the only person who completely understands you so use your reasoning mind to cater in the smartest way to your emotions/ heart.  The thing about logic is that you you cant regret it, if something seemed like the most logical thing to do at the time, there is no reason not to do it.  Sometimes you'll be wrong, but at least you'll have a stable system.

  8. No, they mean do what you feel like you wanna do, and if it kills you in the process, so what? You did what you wanted to do, and that's more valuable than rights or wrongs. :)
