do you think footballers in general are good role models cos i don't drinkin, gambling..different women every night and thats just alan mcgregor...can you think of one who really sets a good example

I agree.

I was going to get rid of the TV.because every night, it's drink drugs, s*x and violence, then you switch on the telly and it's no different.

Good role models include,Laudrup,Larsson,Tommy Burns.

its a good question Bluebell.

they are in a fantastic position to help the youth of the country but money and fame always end up ruining them. Look at John Terry and Ashley Cole, away humping everything that moves when thier partners are sitting at home. what does that say to todays kids??

i also think that its the games organizing body that messes things up to. When George Best died, because he was a very heavy drinker from his playing days to his dying day, Man Utd played with his number on the back of all thier shirts, Wayne Rooney got man of the match, and he was given a massive bottle of champane. Crazy

i hate saying it but iv always found Alan Shearer to be a great role,  aswell as guys like Davie Cooper, Jorg Albertz, Laudrup, Paul Lambert, Arthur Numanetc. the list is endless but they are overshadowed by the not so smart ones.

ah, bluebell, it's no like it used to be...  i cite my own personal hero, Davie Narey, truly a world class player, the greatest ever Dundonian footballer, modest to a fault, no interest in personal plaudits, lived to play the game and was still turning out in bounce games recently, had no interest in playing for a big english team or the old firm, although he would've enhanced ANY side; granted he made a good living at tannadice, with win bonuses and the like, last seen up the Cairdie 9-holer with only a 9-iron and a putter.

Love him or hate him, Henrik Larsson, was to me (and a lot of other players, coaches etc) the consumate proffessional and he could play fitba a wee bit as well.

There are some but, they are exceptional like Larsson Laudrup and TB etc. the kids look up to these kind of chaps. You will always get the ones who love the limelight it goes with the territory.  The thing is some can handle it, others cannot.
