Following too closely georgia?

i got a ticket after i got into a car accident for following too closely.. does anyone know how much i will have to pay if it was in atlanta, georgia, and if so, do i have a certain amount of time after i go to court to pay it off, or do i have to pay right then?

  1. Normally, all of the information is on the ticket that was issued to you at the time.  If you've lost the actual ticket, you should be able to find out the cost, by calling the district court.

    You will have the opportunity to talk to the prosecutor and to the judge.  If you are unable to pay all of the ticket on your court date, in most instances, they will allow you some time to pay the remaining balance.  The judge will determine how long.


  2. The fine for following a vehicle too closely in Atlanta Georgia, according to state code 40-6-49(a) is $158.00.  This fine is subject to increase if the violation caused an accident.

    In most cases you can make payment arrangements with the city prosecutor HOWEVER, defaulting on a pay arrangement like this can lead to further penalties.
