So you won't be able to drive individual cars in cities any more? Public transportation will be the only mode available?

  2. I have an idea, because I looked at his question history and saw the previous question.

    As for your current question, I don't see how individual vehicles could ever be eliminated.  We have a strong desire towards independent movement and the removal of fossil fuels from the equation won't easily change that tendency.  Public transportation should be more useful to the average commuter and it's not.

    Bank on privately operated garages and parking lots putting up a strong fight against the elimination of private vehicle travel in the city.  The Interstate Commerce Act has been used successfully in similar situations...
